GRAPHIC DESIGNING FAQs

In general terms, graphic design is the process and art of combining text and graphics and communicating an effective message in the design of logos, graphics, brochures, newsletters, posters, signs, and any other type of visual communication. Today's graphic designers often use desktop publishing software and techniques to achieve their goals.
If your goal is to simply create and print your own material from your desktop printer for personal use such as greeting cards, flyers, or craft projects using desktop publishing software then chances are you will not need a graphic designer. What a graphic designer will bring to your process is an in-depth knowledge of graphic design and the elements and principles of graphic design, as well as the software skills required to use desktop publishing and image programs. A graphic designer will also be conversant in the process of preparing files for use by others - be they printers or online Web hosting providers, ensuring the trouble-free output of your finished communication piece.
A designer is a communicator of your idea, your product and your solution to the world. With training or experience as a visual communicator and problem solver, a designer will combine your content with elemenets color, typography, line, space, shape and balance to create a finished communications piece for your business or organization. He/she will work with you to explore different options or design directions to solve your particular communications challenge.

A designer will also prepare the 'mechanical requirements' of your finished piece and prepare it to the specifications of a printer, magazine, Web host, television studio or any other output medium, to ensure trouble-free output of a final finished product (such as a printed flyer or a Web site).
At RED PIXELS we realize you have many options when choosing a graphic design provider and thank you for the opportunity to present our solutions to you.

WEB DESIGNING FAQs

Web design is a process of conceptualizing, planning, and building a collection of electronic files that determine the layout, colors, text styles, structure, graphics, images, and use of interactive features that deliver pages to your site visitors.
A web designer is responsible for creating attractive and fully functional websites, but they do more than just that. If you are a creative individual and you are technically inclined, it is time to learn about roles of web designers and why they play such an important role in today’s modern world of business. Read on, and you can learn about the duties of the designer, how to get qualified, where they are employed, and what the job outlook looks like in this field.
Some web designers are self taught and build their portfolio by taking on unique projects for themselves or people they know. While being creative will give you an edge, you will need marketable web design skills that you have developed in a technical training program to build your resume.

Unless you have learned all of the HTML languages and skills you need on your own, you will need to enroll in a college degree program. It is best to study for a Bachelor’s in Graphic Design or Computer Science so that you can learn HTML, Design, Layout, Programming, Administration, Graphics, XML, scripts and everything else you need to know to be a successful professional designer.

Other Questions

Computer graphics can be created as either raster or vector images. Raster graphics are bitmaps. A bitmap is a grid of individual pixels that collectively compose an image. Raster graphics render images as a collection of countless tiny squares. Each square, or pixel, is coded in a specific hue or shade. Individually, these pixels are worthless. Together, they’re worth a thousand words.

Unlike pixel-based raster images, vector graphics are based on mathematical formulas that define geometric primitives such as polygons, lines, curves, circles and rectangles. Because vector graphics are composed of true geometric primitives, they are best used to represent more structured images, like line art graphics with flat, uniform colors. Most created images (as opposed to natural images) meet these specifications, including logos, letterhead, and fonts.
Professionals who specialize in web design will organize information, create content and design the layout of the content on a web medium. It is the designer’s job to review the needs of their client or the goals of their assigned project to design images and web pages that will create a user with a unique experience while still communicating a message. The scope of the project will be dependent on the communication problems a client wants to solve or the current status of a company’s website. Some other responsibilities include:

  • Using appropriate underlying technologies for website functionality
  • Designing navigational elements
  • Translating needs of clients and users into concepts
  • Turning brand into graphics, colors, layout and fonts
  • Using HTML coding to layout the website
  • Presenting content
  • Designing to search engine optimization and rankings
  • Updating the website as needed
Unsurprisingly, many desktop publishers work in the publishing industry. They use computers to design layouts for various print and online publications. While this isn’t an inclusive list, desktop publishers may work on designing:

  • Books
  • Brochures
  • Comic strips
  • Magazines
  • Newspapers
  • Webpages
